Happenings

So I'm officially the worst blogger EVER! Last time I blogged I think it was about Max in ski school. Oh well, here are a few things to catch you up.

Max finished Kindergarden. He had such a good year, and such an awesome teacher. He LOVED it and asks every day, "when do I get to go back to school Mom?" This can't be a good sign if he's already bored w/ me and were only like 1 week into summer right?
For Memorial Day weekend we headed down to AZ and had a blast. We hadn't really been w/ all the family in awhile so it was good to see everyone, and all their cute kids. We did miss Kellie and Clint though. We did lots of this..........

Some of this.....ok, not all of us sat around in our swimsuits reading Muley Crazy but i guess some did.

Grammie helped the girls make a lemonade stand, and it's funny to see these kids act when they earn money! You can definatly tell who their parents are!!!!(I'm not naming any names!)

That is about all that is going down. We are already boiling here. It's suppose to be 99 degrees on Sun. I think Spring went by way to fast and jumped right into summer. So if I don't blog again for awhile it's probably because were doing this.......

HAPPY SUMMER!!

Update

Max just finished up with "ski school". He and Abbie did it together and I'm so sad it's over because he really started to "get it" on his last lesson, so I think Jay is going to try and take him a few more times before the snow melts. He is doing so good in kindergarten, and is starting to read really good. When did he get so big?

This little mess spends about 99% of her days either in dress ups or jammies. She hates when I get her dressed in "normal" clothes. She is so funny, the other day she was walking around patting her bear telling it, "ok, you just lay your head down and close your eyes....ok?" She is a fun little girl but also VERY emotional. I don't know if it's the "girl" in her or just the way she is but some days I can barely take it. Neither of the boys are like that so we'll sum it up to being a girl!:)
She spends most of her days being a little mother hen to Sam. She is really good with him and always wants to help me with whatever I'm doing. She hasn't tried picking him up...........yet!
Sammers is doing good. He did get RSV a few weeks ago and had to be on oxygen for a week(which was NOT fun) but has made a full recovery. He is such a happy little boy and LOVES Max and Mia. He is 11 weeks old today and finally got to get his 2 month shots(they didn't want to give them to him until he was 100% healthy!)
Weight-13.5 lbs(which was only in the 70th percentile.....I was a little surprised my kids are usually in the height 90's!)
Height 24.5 in.(80th percentile)
Head....I don't remember the measurement but it was in the 70th percentile.
He has been sleeping about 9 hrs. straight at night which I'm soooo thankful for. Having a full night's sleep is starting to help me feel back to normal again.
He's getting good in the bumbo!
It's so hard to be a kid!

Here it looks like "uh, oh!!!!!!"

So That's about it! We are planning on going to Disneyland the first week of May and are really excited for that, and have a few projects planned for around the house. Jay and I are starting P90X this week, and I'm really nervous. Everyone I know that has done it has got amazing results but all have said it's really hard, so we'll see!

A shout out to the Hub Cap

A few weeks ago Jay dropped down on Max's bed and one of the boards that already had a small crack completely split! I started looking for beds, and found http://www.knockoffwood.blogspot.com/. This lady is AMAZING. She has made plans for a ton of stuff out of Pottery Barn, and Land of Nod. Her whole idea is to make really nice furniture for a fraction of the cost. Her version of the bed was to use pine and paint it but we wanted a nice hardwood that we could stain. Jay picked out a knotty alder and used her plans for the simple bed from Land of Nod......and made this bed.

Land of Nods Version

Our Version
He did such a good job. Max and Sam will be sharing a room so he is getting ready to start the other bed and make it into this.....
I can't wait until it's all the way done. When it is I'll post pictures of it. In the meantime I'm thinking up more projects for him to do........hmmmm!:

I'm thinking "everyone" was right...

So everyone told me the "third kid is the hardest." Everyone said, "you can't get anything done", and everyone said, "are you ready for this?" Ok, ok it is the hardest. I feel exhausted and completely dysfunctional. My house still screams "Merry Christmas", and my laundry is screaming to "get me done." How could I go from the so called "nesting" stage where I had quite a bit of energy and had a million and one things going on and getting most if not all accomplished to actually having this whole month off from my church callings, Max having 2 weeks off of school, Jay being off of work for 2 weeks and not being able to accomplish anything? Well maybe it does have a little to do with this little stinker.....
Maybe I just like hanging out holding him all morning while I watch Mia trying over and over to fly like tinkerbell. Or snuggling him while Mia naps and I talk to my sister on the phone for I don't know at least an hour about pretty much nothing! Or maybe the fact that I have blogged more the past 3 days than I have in the past 6 months. Whatever it is I am going to whip myself into shape.....

yes you heard me correctly, "shape" both physically and mentally. I am going to be the proud owner of the bender ball! If you haven't heard of it then you obviously aren't up in the middle of the night feeding your baby watching TV that is worthless. Regardless I ordered it and will let you all know if it works. Jay thinks it probably will but he said I'll have to actually "do it." As far as getting in "shape mentally" I'm still working on how that's all going to work out.

So here I am. Christmas crap surrounding me, target bags with stuff that needs put away sitting on my floor and an empty fridge that hasn't seen new groceries since like Christmas....but I think I'm going to go hold this little punkin and watch myself some Ugly Betty. I'll do all that stuff later...he's WAY more fun.And p.s. my conversation with my sister wasn't about nothing. She was telling me how Jack told her while he and Max were at Grammie and Papa's house playing outside they were "practicing" talking naughty! :)

You might be a redneck if...

You light your Christmas tree on fire in your back yard! We BARELY took our tree down tonight. It was literally about to set fire to our whole house. I can't even describe to you how brittle it was. So as Jay is hauling it out I said we should see how fast it lights on fire...(some of you know I'm a little bit of a closeted pyro.) Anyways so he stands it up out there and lights it up....it took a few seconds and "poof" it was blazing. A little scary if you ask me, so a little note to self....next year take the tree down right after Christmas!

Christmas

My parents brought the kids back on Wednesday night the 23rd and stayed to have Christmas with our family. On Christmas Eve, my Mom and I braved the stores and did a little last minute shopping....NEVER again. It was crazy! Then we took Grammie and Papa to see The Princess and the Frog! Just what they wanted to do I'm sure!:) Then we came home, read Luke 2 and did the nativity and sent the kiddos off to bed.

Mia, Sam and Max in there Christmas pj's
Papa and Grammie got Max a red rider bb gun....he's actually pretty good at it, and hasn't shot his eye out....yet!
Santa brought Max a leapster. After playing it for about 10 minutes he told me his neck was hurting him! All I could think about was when Katie and I played the nintendo for so long that our thumbs got sore....ok maybe Kates didn't play it so much but I did! :)
Mia got a kitchen from Santa. She also got the whole pack of princess barbies from Papa and Grammie and Grandpa Christensen made her this doll bed. She is complete heaven!

Papa and Sam all tuckered out after the present opening.

Merry Christmas!

Baby Sam

This is our newest addition. Sam Paul Christensen was born on December 15, and weighed 8lbs 6 oz, and 21 1/2 inches long. I'm so glad he's finally here, and soooo glad to not be pregnant anymore! My labor was long but he was worth every second!

My parents sat around w/ us for like 8 hours until I had him! I'm so glad they got to be there, even though they were exhausted!

He had some bruising around his little mouth

Here he is hanging out at home with Jay and I. My parents stayed at our house for a few days and then took Max and Mia to there house for almost a whole week....we didn't know what to do with ourselves, we were actually kind of bored. Grammie is the champ because while she had them she potty trained Mia! I don't know if I can EVER repay her for that! He is such a good little baby, and were so thankful to have him in our family. Max and Mia love him to death, and are so excited to have a new little brother. Jay got to have 2 whole weeks off and went back to work today.....hopefully I can get adjusted to our new life and get with it!

Oh no she didn't.........

What am I going to do with this little girl. Quick story............

I had my Dr.'s appt. yesterday, so of course I had Mia with me. We're in the bathroom, you know because you have to give a urine sample every stinkin time you go. Anyways there is a stack of little cups and she keeps telling me, "i need a drink of water." I do my business and tell her to "hold on" and turn to wash my hands. I turn back around and there is the little pill holding my cup (with my name on it) up to her mouth drinking out of it. I screamed, "oh my gosh Mia!" She puts it down and says, "mmmm"! Are you kidding me!!!!!!!!! If that is not the sickest thing I've ever witnessed. I was freaking out, and trying not to laugh at the same time. So then I have to ask the nurse if she thinks that Mia will be ok after ingesting urine.....how embarrassing! They told me she should be fine, thank goodness. What is the deal with my kids eating/drinking bodily functions?

Starting to feel normal.....if this is normal

So after feeling completely unmotivated for the last little while all the sudden I have this burst of energy, and list of "things to do" a million miles long.....must be that nesting thing? Anyways a few months back I found this little gem at an antique store downtown......

It's super cute but Mia hardly ever played with it because it sits right down on the ground, so it's been serving as a stuffed animal holder.(FYI:it's a playpen for dolls). So with this "burst" of energy I decided to revamp it.

With a little paint, new legs, new cover, and some finials I think it turned out pretty dang cute.

So this is just the beginning. I have many more projects in my head and a few that are pretty close to done. I guess I better take advantage of all this energy and get as much done as I can because come Dec. I'm afraid it's going to be gone!:)

The last 4 months in pictures.....

Here is what we've been up too the last few months while I took my blogging hiatus, these pics are in NO particular order because I'm too lazy to organize them......

We've been working hard on our yard. We planted grass built flower beds and Jay just built me this round one that I've yet to fill.

playing in the river at Greer with all the cousins

Max practicing his cast......Mia better watch out!

Max turned 5 on Aug. 26th, and Tanner(shane and Shannons) turned 1 on the 27th so we had a "camping party" with the cousins at Grammie and Papa's house.....oh ya and had some spiderman stuff too! Thanks to all the cousins, aunts, uncle, grammie and Papa for all the great gifts and for coming. It's pretty fun to share a bday so close with someone.

Aunt Amber made Max and Tanner the cutest cakes....thanks Auntie Amber!....I have no idea what is up with the cheezy smile.

waiting for cake!

The birthday boys, Tanner and Max.

Aunt Kellie gave Mia a cute hair cut....I have to say I still put it in ponies most of the time doing hair takes some serious time! :)

Our family party at our house. He had a spiderman cake and got this crown from school....he didn't take it off all day!

He got these spiderman balloons.

Max started kindergarten.....what in the world. It is so weird to have him gone all day. Mia doesn't know what to do with herself, and either do I. This was on the first day....not a very good picture but we were in a hurry!

We went to Idaho the week before school started and had so much fun. We took a few pictures of the kids up in the mountains behind Jay's parents house, this one is my favorite.

We also went to Hebgon lake, and rode in the sailboat....

and played on the beach....even though it was FREEZING!

all the Christensen cousins

flying model airplanes

We have TONS of little critters out where we live...these were just a few of the toads we found. Max loved to feed them grasshoppers!

We spent the 4th of July in Eagar. And as always it was so much fun. Here's all the girls looking cute waiting for the parade.

Mia, Abbie and Lucie....cute girls

Tate, Clayton, Jack, and Max

roasting marshmallows....yummy!

playing in Grammies backyard from sun up til sun down

this is how you can find Mia most days....with any garb on she can find! She changes her clothes and shoes about 100 times a day! It drives me NUTS!

swimming in our backyard....don't look at the weeds.

In June we went and rode Thomas the Train in Durango with Kellie and her kids. We had tons of fun.

Mia, Jack, and Max. Everyone thinks Mia and Jackers look like brother and sister.
