This is "Grandpa Great" to my kids, and Grandpa to me. He passed away about a week ago, and all I can say is how much I loved him. What an amazing man he was, and what a wonderful example he set for all of us. His funeral was yesterday. It was so hard to look at my sweet little Grandma sitting there w/out him. Oh how we'll miss him, but how lucky we were to have him in our lives.
My Uncle Doug said something to this affect at his funeral. "If you want to do something in memory of our Dad, go and do a quiet selfless act of service." I think I will, and after I'm done I think I'll have me a big bowl of ice cream.....he would like that!:)

Sorry to hear about your Grandpa. My heart aches for you. How lucky you have been to have him around as long as you did. Cherish those memories.
Oh Rat. I just sat here and cried and while I looked at those pictures. He hasn't aged much since I was a little girl! I love the last picture it is so sweet. Everytime I eat a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup to this day I think of him! Sorry I couln't be at the funeral! Love you!
Jill, I am all choked up reading your blog. I loved your grandpa too. Great pictures! I loved the black and white one - looks like he is in a cabin. Precious! Katie just got here and I had a big bowl of Reese's peanut butter cups and she said she always thinks of your grandpa when she sees those! You are so lucky to have good grandparents.
